Does this summarizer use AI like ChatGPT?

No. It is an extractive summariser that scores sentences by how frequently their important words appear in the text, then keeps the top-scoring ones in their original order. No AI model or online service is used, so it never rewrites or paraphrases your text.

What is extractive vs abstractive summarization?

Extractive summarization selects existing sentences from the source, so every line is a quote and cannot add facts that were not there. Abstractive summarization, used by large language models, writes new sentences and can paraphrase, but can also introduce errors.

Why is my summary choppy or missing context?

Because it picks separate sentences, links such as however or pronouns like this may lose their meaning. Try a higher sentence count, and use the summary as a guide to the key points rather than polished prose. Rewrite by hand for publishing.

Does the summarizer work in languages other than English?

It is designed for English. Its word matching looks for Latin letters and uses an English stop-word list, so text in other scripts may not summarise well or may return nothing. Other Latin-script languages can work partly but are not tuned.

How long does the text need to be?

It needs at least a few complete sentences. If your text has fewer sentences than the number you request, the tool simply returns them all. Very short fragments of 15 characters or fewer are ignored, and it works best on articles and reports of several paragraphs.
